The racing is underway here in Racice! I am super excited for my first race tomorrow morning. My heat races at 9:30 a.m CET and the top two advanced straight to the semifinals while the rest go to repechages to try to qualify for the semifinals.
All of the races will be streamed live here: https://worldrowing.com/event/2022-world-rowing-championships. This site will also have all of the results. My event is the PR1 M1x.
I took the day off yesterday, letting my back rest, and had a nice row today practicing starts and testing some rigging changes. We raised my rigger up, which gives me slightly more room at the finish and we moved it towards the bow, which allows for a greater catch angle. With a larger catch angle, you can use the pin as more of a lever than when the oar is more perpendicular to the boat. These changes had great results and I am feeling very good about tomorrow.
I have a very competitive heat with the current world champion and world record holder in it. Only the top two qualify directly to the semifinals, which are on Friday, and everyone else has to race again on Wednesday. Sasha and I have been working on a solid race plan and hopefully, I can stick to it. We are both learning a ton and are looking forward to 4 race experiences.
You can also watch the Livestream retroactively on YouTube I believe by searching “World Rowing Championships 2022, Racice.” Wish me luck!
